Apple works well with turkey, giving it a subtle sweetness.

These meatballs are sure to be a hit. Serve them with applesauce to dip or over whole-grain noodles or brown rice.

Turkey and apple meatballs on a plate with applesauce.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Step 1

Wash hands with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds. Wash and dry all surfaces and equipment used for food preparation. Gently rinse the apple under cool running water before preparing this ingredient.
  2. Step 2

Preheat the oven to 400º F (200º C) cover a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Step 3

In a large bowl combine all the ingredients and mix very well with a spoon. Using an ice cream scoop, form the mixture into balls, smaller than a golf ball. Make 15 meatballs.
  4. Step 4

Place the meatballs on the cookie sheet and cook for 15 minutes. Use separate equipment and utensils when handling raw food and cooked food.
  5. Step 5

Flip them over and cook for an additional 10 minutes until the meatballs reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) when checked with a digital food thermometer.
  6. Step 6

    Serve immediately.
  7. Step 7

Put leftovers away in the fridge within 2 hours, or sooner if they are in a warm location.
