Microwave apple crisp omelette
Enjoy a little apple crisp in your omelette with this easy microwave recipe. The sweet flavour of apples and cinnamon add a great texture and flavour to your morning egg.

Step 1
Wash hands with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds. Wash all surfaces and equipment used for food preparation. Gently rinse the apple under cool running water before preparing. -
Step 2
In small shallow microwaveable bowl, stir together apple and cinnamon. Cover and cook on High for 30 seconds. -
Step 3
In a small bowl, whisk together egg, milk, oats and wheat germ. Pour into apple mixture and stir to combine. Cover and cook on high for 30 seconds; stir gently and cook on high for another 30 seconds or until egg is set.

Using a shallow bowl helps speed up and even the cooking time in the microwave.

Savoury Option: Use this method for Broccoli and Cheese Omelet. Omit apple, cinnamon and oats. Substitute 1/2 cup (125 mL) chopped fresh or frozen broccoli, Pinch freshly ground black pepper and 2 tbsp (25 mL) shredded light cheddar cheese. Cook as above.
